On April 17-19, 2025 the Tibetan language program of the Department of Central Eurasian Studies presented a celebration of Tibetan Calligraphy day, featuring invited guests Pema Bhum, Kristina Dy-Liacco, and Jamyang Dorjee Chakrishar. Participants could get a calligraphy done for them by experts and also learned about the process of Tibetan Calligraphy. Several events composed this three day series including Calligraphy Exhibitions, History of Tibetan Calligraphy lecture by Pema Bhum, a pop-up exhibit at the Lilly Library, Introduction to the Lilly Library’s Tibetan Manuscripts and Woodblock Prints by Jim Canary, a children’s program at the Tibetan and Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center, and a Tibetan papermaking demonstration by Jim Canary at the Tibetan and Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center.
