This lecture series was endowed by the estate of the late Distinguished Professor Denis Sinor—a pioneer of Central Eurasian Studies and a founder of our CEUS department—and his late wife Jean. Central Eurasia extends from Finland and the Baltic across Hungary, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and Tibet through Central Asia, Xinjiang, and Mongolia. So, each Jean and Denis Sinor Faculty Fellowship public lecture focuses on a research topic related to the histories, religions, languages, cultures, and societies past and present of Central Eurasia and lasts for approximately one hour. Each lecturer is requested to participate in discussions about his or her research and career with CEUS and other interested Indiana University undergraduate and graduate students. Each lecturer also meets with students in classroom settings related to his or her area and disciplinary expertise.
